Dig In At The Hope Watermelon Festival

When it comes to watermelons, the city of Hope is in a league of its own. Between the fertile soil and the skill of local farmers, this city has the best watermelons in the country. When you’re the best at something, you have to celebrate it, which Hope does in a big way with the Watermelon Festival. Now, it’s almost time for the 45th Annual Hope Watermelon Festival at Hope Fair Park. The festivities will run from August 5–7, and it’ll be loaded with watermelons, contests, music, and fun.

You can enjoy the festival from noon to 8 p.m. on opening day. Then, the fairgrounds are open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Aug. 6 and 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Aug. 7. Check out what the festival’s organizers have in store this year.

Contests Galore

If you have a competitive streak (or like cheering on others), you’ll love the festival’s contests. The festival hosts watermelon eating and seed spitting contests, plus its version of American Idol. It’s called “Watermelon Idol,” and it gives the residents of Hope a chance to showcase their singing skills. Oh, and there’s even a “Watermelon Olympics” and a dog show.

This is just a snapshot of the festival’s fun competitions. Whether you watch or participate, you’ll have a blast.

Check Out Antique and Classic Cars

The Hope Civitan Car Show is always one of the biggest draws. You’ll get to see antiques made before 1949, classic cars, rat rods, project vehicles, and more. There’s always an assortment of cars and trucks, and the judges award trophies at the end.

Jam Out to the Music

A Hope Watermelon Festival wouldn’t be complete without some amazing music. This year, Phil Vassar will headline the concert. You can expect him to bring out many of his hits while wowing the audience. This is a huge name, so there’s sure to be a massive crowd when he takes the stage.

Let Your Kids Loose in the Kids’ Zone and Game Area

If you’re bringing your little ones with you, they’ll have the time of their lives in the T-Mobile Kidz Zone. This area is going to have it all, including pony rides, ax throwing, and face painting.

Oh, and there’ll be a game area with cornhole, Jenga, and more. You can hit the game area with your little ones, so they can see your impressive skills.

Stop By the Vendors and Concessions Area

Vendors and exhibitors are so excited about this year’s festival that all the space is already filled up. You can do some shopping and learn about local businesses. Oh, and you’ll also be able to load up on goodies at the concession area.

Each year’s Hope Watermelon Festival is fun, but this one might be the biggest and best yet. You can find the complete schedule on the festival’s website. Then, use it to plan your time at the event.
